I was able to step into my first professional photography role while working as a designer at the Steamboat Pilot & Today. When the position opened, I jumped at the opportunity to expand my responsibilities into a field I was passionate about.

Over the next couple of years, I expanded the role well beyond its previous scope, building relationships with clients across multiple industries, particularly in the restaurant business. Many of the people I worked with would remain valued clients well after my time at the newspaper had ended.

Somewhat unexpectedly, a collection of portraits emerged from a body of commercial work that I found particularly gratifying. While much of my work revolved around the culinary creations in Steamboat’s restaurants, I found that I had an opportunity to put a face on the artists working behind the scenes.

These photos were taken over several years of working with culinary professionals and restaurant owners.
